From elevators to storage closets to Canadian shacks.

A shack in a desolate, snowy landscape during a heavy snowstorm

For the first of potentially many episodes in the Patrons-only “Tropefest” series, Flourish and Elizabeth start at the only logical place at this moment in history: the “trapped together” trope. Elevators, storage closets, prison cells, snowstorms, and the granddaddy of all trapped together tropes, the “Canadian shack.” They discuss what works for them, what doesn’t, and whether this is a trope they want to engage with while sheltering-in-place.

Show Notes

[00:00:00] As always, our intro music is “Awel” by stefsax, used under a CC BY 3.0 license. This time, it’s our outro music too.

[00:05:58] “Canadian shack” is one trope that Fanlore has totally covered.

[00:12:01] Synopsis of “Ice”: “In an Arctic research station, Mulder and Scully are threatened by primordial ice worms that cause their hosts to become dangerously paranoid and violent to each other.” Arctic, not Antarctic. STILL. [Elizabeth notes: this is ridiculous but less ridiculous than them going to Antarctica.]
